Training and Supervision

At First Steps Interventions, Inc. we set ourselves apart from the crowd by providing more hands-on training and supervision than is required by the BACB. We have developed several training sequences to suit both therapist and client needs, and have a team of trainers and supervisors who take personal pride in the development of our staff.

Teamwork

Each client at FSI is assigned a team of professionals who work together to ensure the quality and efficacy of the treatment plan that is provided. Client teams may consist of one or more behavior therapist, an assistant behavior analyst, a lead behavior analyst and a consulting behavior analyst, depending on the intensity of services required. We also encourage collaboration with other providers to ensure a well-rounded treatment plan.

Training

All incoming therapists receive an intensive, hands-on, field training prior to being hired. When starting with a client for the first time, the supervisory team is responsible for ensuring that therapists are thoroughly trained on the treatment plans being implemented. Before beginning the formal intervention we ensure high treatment fidelity by having the team's lead behavior analyst observe the therapist and give the stamp of approval.

Supervision

Our supervision model allows for flexibility in the duration and nature of the supervision, thereby maximizing the frequency and efficiency of each meeting. While most supervisions occur in person, remote supervision allows for more frequent and targeted observations when they are needed.

Practicum

FSI is an affiliated practicum site for the Florida International University Masters in Behavior Analysis Program, as well as the undergraduate behavior analysis program, which allows us to recruit, train and hire the cream of the crop from South Florida. Affiliating with FIU allows FSI to remain at the cutting edge of the field of applied behavior analysis, and encourages our team to stay current and grow.

Continuing Education and Consultation

First Steps Interventions is an Approved Continuing Education provider (OP-18-2909) and regularly provides free CEUs to its certified employees. In addition, FSI hosts community CEU events where local professionals can earn continuing education credits to maintain their certification in behavior analysis. Professional consultation is also available to working professionals who have encountered challenging clients, behaviors, or ethical dilemas. International Supervision

FSI is proud to provide consultation and supervision to therapists practicing ABA in Latin America. We currently oversee services in centers in Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Costa Rica, and provide BACB supervision to students seeking to obtain certification.
